FILM RE-view: Playing SCRABBLE at the 2012 SLGFF!

by MK Scott

Last night ended this years Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. This was the 17th Year and the 1st for its new ED, Jason Plourde. Jason has been the Face of the Festival for several years and this job was earned. This years theme was 'Come Out and Play'. I saw OVER 20 films and have given a LETTER Grade from A to D!
The A List (Excellent)
TURTLE HILL, BROOKLYN (Dir-Ryan Geilen, US; 80 Min) Love a Great Party Movie withgreat characters, An Instant CLASSIC!

CLOUDBURST (Dir-Thom Fitzgerald; Canada; 94 min) Saw it twice at SIFF, saw it again. Total CAMP Classic. (Why is this film still being marketed to Lesbians? It is totally crosses boundaries!)

ELLIOTT LOVES (Dir-Terracino, US, 92 Min) Great story, and Acting, A CLASSIC!

SHORTS:
THE DEVOTION PROJECT
SOMETHING REAL
HALF-SHARE
THE BEGINNING

The B List (GOOD)
STRUCK by LIGHTENING (Dir-Brian Dannelly, US; 90 Min) Gave away the ending at the beginning. Colfer is Great, but is Sexless.
BEAR CITY 2 (Dir-Douglas Langsway, US; 101 Min) Loved the Cameos, Better than the first!

THE FALLS (Dir. Jon Garcia, US; 90 min) More DARING than Latter Days with the NW as the back drop! Beautiful Writing!

I DO (Dir. Glenn Gaylord, US; 95 Min) Beautifully written and Acted by DAVID ROSS

SWAN LAKE 3D (Dir-Matthew Bourne, UK; 119 min) A Modern and Gay version of the Ballet, Beautiful dancing in 3D. AWESOME!

SHORTS:
JACKPOT
SABBATICAL
WHAT IS THIS NIGHT
PRORA

The C List (FAIR)
SCENES FROM A GAY MARRIAGE (Dir-Matt Riddlehoover, US; 84 Min) Great acting and directing by Riddlehoover, but the add-lib from McQuiston was too much and pointless to the story.

LOVE or WHATEVER (Dir-Rosser Goodman, US; 84 Min) Hot Guys and (OUTscene Pal) Julie Goldman, but the Lead's (Poelle) Overacting is annoying.

The D List (POOR)

YOUNG AND WILD (Dir-Rivas; Chile; 92 Min) Bi/Lesbian Porn with confusing story, (seats were half full.) Totally wrong for closing Night!

SHORTS:
THE EYES AND THE ICE

QUEERS ON A BOAT

No (F) AWFUL this year!

NOT YET GRADED:  I WANT YOUR LOVE YOSSI,  WAXIE MOON,  SEVENTH-GAY ADVENTISTS,  PARTS OF HEAR, T MIXED KABAB,  MEN TO KISS,  JOBRIATH A.D.,  FOUR DANCE OF TWO LEFT FEET,  BEYOND THE WALLS,  CALL ME KUCHU
